    Canadian Para-Ski Nationals

The second extended deadline of September 30 for bids to host the 2001 Para-Ski Nationals has passed without any bids received. The Committee will now ponder the situation, attempt to solicit bids from prospective hosts or recommend to the BoD that there not be a National Championship for the year 2001.

Next year is a World Championship year with the 8th WPC in Para-Ski 2001 being held in Riezlern, Austria by Germany in April. Canada's team was chosen in 2000 and the next selection year for Para-Ski is 2002. Also, for those interested, it should be noted that the latest news from USPA is that, due to a lack of interest or bids to host, USPA has decided not to have a 2001 Para-Ski Nationals.

    Summer Nationals

With no bids having been received by the closing date of August 31, the first extended closing date of November 30, 2000 is now active. Interested hosts may contact CSPA at office@cspa.ca[] or the committee at jablitt@skybus.com for further information.

    New Georgia Women's State Record

A new women's State Record was set October 21 at Skydive Atlanta in Thomaston. They got the record on the first attempt and did a two-point 23-way. They added two more very young jumpers for a second attempt at 25. They had planned a three point skydive and miscommunication between the two girls keying the point caused them to break for the second point with one out. So they didn't beat their record on the second jump, but had a good time and their two young jumpers got a chance. The organizer was Jaimie Johnson who is on the 4-way team Nemesis that came in second in Advanced Class at the 2000 Nationals in Perris.

Congratulations to the following women for successfully smashing the existing record on the first attempt! Jaimie Johnson, Kim Brandt, Becca Garrison, Dee Thomasson, Sara Knipling, Kendra Nelson, Gina Earl, Jennifer Gruwell, Kate Thompson, Barb Kazmierczak, Jennifer Jones, Julia Murphy, Sandy Oliver, Kolla Kolbeinsolotir, Tammy Tatum, Nancy Townsend, Caroline Coleman, Angelika Heitzman, Michele Thibaudeau, Bonnie Knowlton, Silvia Leyva, Leslie Balhatchet, Julianne Troje.

    News from "The Drop Shop"
    by Lyle Presse - Lyle@Flexvision.com

Rob Tonnesen (formerly PD Source sales manager) has joined our sales team and Vladi Pesa has moved back to Sebastian to run a full time wingsuit school and canopy control program (see full page ad in Skydiving Magazine next issue). While we were in Margarita, a mural I commissioned was completed on the front of the entire store. This is definitely something people will remember when they come to Sebastian, and we are all very pleased with the results. There is definitely a new vibe around here that we are enjoying.

I have founded the Extreme Canopy Pilot's Association with the assistance of many friends (Vladi Pesa & Joey Jones), who have been part of the entire conception, and Johnny Lewis who has recently come aboard to assist with management. This is being very well received by everyone who has heard about it so far. Our purpose is to provide more canopy control training programs and instructors, as well as serving swoop competitors as a voice to organizers, DZ's, and / or sponsors. The ECPA has already been asked to sanction several of the upcoming swoop events. The inaugural board of directors is rather impressive with the following skydivers besides myself having accepted a position:

Pete Allum: UK National champion for 10 years, over 10,000 jumps, 4 way coach and veteran of many World Meet and other competitions. Daytona 5000 competitor.

Craig Buxton: US National Champion - Co-founder of Skydive University - Producer of 499 and 899 training videos and others. 4 way coach and load organizer. Caribbean Challenge Swoop competition chief judge. Scott Miller: Operator of Skydive DeLand's canopy control school. Full time Performance Designs test jumper. Daytona 5000 and Caribbean Challenge competitor.

Jim Slaton: Manager of Skydive Houston, first place competitor at Quincy Blade Swoop, third place at Caribbean Challenge. Hosting Para Performance Games Nov 30 - Dec 3rd.

Leland Bendel: Co-organizer of Pond Swooping Nationals at Blue Sky Ranch since first meet in 1995. Competitor Daytona 5000 and Caribbean Challenge of Margarita.

Vladi Pesa: Runs canopy control school at Skydive Sebastian. Competitor Daytona, Margarita, and Perris swoop meets. Professional tandem and AFF instructor.

Johnny Lewis: Co-organizer of Caribbean Challenge.
