Join the fun and the challenge at Skydive Houston in Waller where Reggie Eastaugh, the inventor of the AirBlades™, is hosting a Pro Blade Swoop Competition of the 2000 circuit. Reggie will be looking for talented individuals to qualify for the US circuit and eventually gain acceptance to the international Pro Blade events. Two Twin Otters will be flying. The event will be judged and recorded by the organizers. The registration fee is $25.00. Blade Swoop

Blade Swoop™ is a high speed parachuting event using a three dimensional, variable course defined by special AirBlades™ indicating wind direction and speed. Consisting of eight to twelve gates ranging in height from 20 feet at the start to 10 feet at the finish, the course ranges in length from 100 feet to 200 feet depending on conditions and degree of difficulty. The course starts on water to provide a "safety zone" for misaligned approaches, with the final gates on a smooth flat shore.

The challenge is to fly a finite flight path while combining energy management with pinpoint judgment and at the same time, 'step on the gas peddle!' Pilots are scored both on points and time. Points are deducted for striking an AirBlade™ or flying over the top of a gate. Timing starts at the first gate and stops at the last gate. Overall scores are calculated to determine the competitor's standing in points and time, gauging the ability and performance of both pilot and canopy.
A number of drop zones will be invited to host Blade Swoop™ events. Canopy enthusiasts from the area who qualify will have the opportunity to practice and compete. The top three from each event will be invited to enter the national Blade Swoop™ competition at the end of the season.

For details on the course layout and competition rules check out http://airblades.com.
For information on hosting a Blade Swoop competition contact Reggie Eastaugh at reg@airblades.com.
