The NSL headquarters is revealing a concept for a future World Skydiving League. Changes regarding the current competition format of the World Championships have been in the air for a while, but good things take time. That is one reason why the International Parachuting Commission (IPC) has not come through yet with a concept that fits all inolved parties' thoughts and requests. The IPC suggestions from 1999 were facing too much resistance within the skydiving world. Therefore, and with respect for the teams and competitors, the IPC did not move forward with these suggestions. Nevertheless, some improvements still seem to be necessary for the future of the sport. The IPC is still working on finding the right concept for the competition format. Due to the fact that other countries in the world seem to like the successful structure of the National Skydiving League, the NSL headquarters has been discussing the concept for a World Skydiving League for a while. The draft for this concept has been finalized and can be viewed at the World Skydiving League page.

The Texas Skydiving League has a new domain name. The address is http://www.texasskydivingleague.com. League director Joe Hazel recently published this new address along with new information for the TSL 2000 season. Skydive Dallas, Skydive San Marcos and Skydive Spaceland will be hosting the six scheduled season meets. Hazel is balancing this year's schedule evenly between meets in North and South Texas to attract more teams and competitors from the South.

The participation for this year's fourth TSL season is already promising very exciting competition. Hazel reports that eleven teams have already registered for the season: two from Skydive San Marcos, one from Skydive Spaceland in Houston, six from Skydive Dallas, and two from Skydive Texas in Fort Worth. The TSL will have two divisions: Open/ Advanced and Intermediate. All skill levels are welcome. Detailed information regarding the rules for this year's Texas Skydiving League season are posted at the TSL website.

The best two female competitors in the world are currently training side-by-side at Skydive DeLand. Dawn English has been back in training with team "FX" after a year break. English has taken back her slot, the center outside position. She had won the World Cup in 4-way in 1998 with Space Center FX. At the beginning of this year, FX moved from Titusville to DeLand, English's current hometown. Lise Aune is the center outside position with the DeLand Norgies. The Norgies are the current bronze medalist of last year's World Meet in Australia. They have been training in DeLand for several years and made DeLand their winter home again this year. Both teams have met each other in the same jump plane already many times. The interesting coincidence is the fact that both teams are having their female members in the same position, the outside center. This slot is requiring strength and good athletic skills for the exits.

English and Aune have already proven to the skydiving world that they can outperform their male fellow competitors at any time. They have also shown that even tough exit challenges are physically no problem for them. And the picture shows that they are having a lot of fun doing their jobs. English and Aune are making it very difficult to understand the need for a separate female class, suggested and experimented with by the International Parachuting Committee (IPC).

DeLand PD Gold won the second season meet of the Florida Skydiving League 2000. PD Gold improved the team average of 9.5 at season meet one to 11.0 yesterday. That was good enough to win the handicapped FSL Championship Class of the Florida Skydiving League. Ten teams completed four rounds at the home of the Williston Skydivers before weather stopped the meet. In the FSL rankings, Optic Nerve took the lead by winning the second place in Williston. The total of eighteen league points puts Optic Nerve one league point ahead of Zephyrhills Frost. Optic Nerve improved the team average from 12.8 to 14.0 at yesterday's meet. Before handicap, DeLand PD Blue scored a raw average of 18.0 in the average draw. As expected, PD Gold improved the team average after they began their training last week. PD Gold had competed at the first season meet without any training. Each participating team was able to improve the previous team averages. Four teams logged new team high scores for the 2000 season in round one. The home team, the Falling Gators, had a strong run at the victory on home turf. Only a bad third round kept the Gators behind PD Gold and Optic Nerve in the handicapped FSL Championship Class. The scores are already posted at the competition page, the new FSL rankings at the FSL homepage. Pictures and the meet story with analysis and more statistics will follow later on today.
