This page will be updated once a week with the latest news from the "National Skydiving League". Special thanks to Kurt Gaebel, founder of the league and webmaster of its web site.

The NSL Profiles fans can anticipate another exciting feature story. NSL News reporter Kurt Gaebel used the opportunity of meeting Arizona Airspeed's legendary competition veteran and multiple world champion, Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld, at the last season meet of the Midwest Skydiving League at Chicagoland Skydiving in Hinckley, IL, for a live interview. BC spent one week prior to the competition in Hinckley for a skills camp organized by MWSL director Howy Hensen. Gaebel was on site for the last four days working with MWSL team DefCon4, reporting for the NSL News and helping as the event judge.

BC is one of the most experienced competitors and coaches in the history of Formation Skydiving. His story is as exciting as can be, a fairy tale of skydiving with all ups and downs possible. BC is a role model for every competitor, no matter on which level. He is motivating and encouraging skydivers to build teams and experience the same excitement and challenges he has been through. His ideas and visions of the future of skydiving are perfectly matching the NSL visions.

Gaebel used every minute available to listen to BC's stories and discuss issues. This was not that easy since BC is a busy man. His motivation to work with his customers is never ending. He has done this thousands of times already. And he still sounds as if each participant means everything to him. Even when the weather was bad for a longer time, he was first serving his teams until they were tired enough before Gaebel could occupy him again. Finally, an early-morning country-style breakfast gave both BC and Gaebel the chance to find some quiet time for the story. The result is a most interesting NSL Profile, which can be found on the NSL's web site.

The NSL-TV 1999 won the Crystal Reel Award 2000. In July 2000, the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association ((FMPTA) presented Communication Concepts, Inc. (CCI) with three 2000 Crystal Reel Awards. One of them was for the half-hour program covering the National Skydiving League Championship event 1999. The NSL was the executive producer of the show. Communication Concepts, Inc. is a Florida-based production company. Their staff filmed the final day of the NSL Championship on site at Skydive DeLand in November 1999. NSL President Kurt Gaebel spent another day in the CCI studios on Merrit Island. The result was shown three times on the Sunshine Network in Florida.

The CCI staff had a lot of fun making the show. They were sure that they had produced a great program. Gaebel was pleased with the first NSL-TV show although he still sees plenty of room for improvements in future shows. The Sunshine Network received very positive feedback from their viewers. Finally, the production company was rewarded with the well deserved award for the "best documentary/special program" in 2000. The NSL headquarters is currently negotiating the TV coverage for the NSL Championship 2000. Hopefully, the coverage can even be extended to a 60-minute show. The NSL-TV on-line will soon show bits of the show.

September 4, 2000

Thanks to our much appreciated visitors, the NSL web site traffic keeps growing. In 1999, traffic peaked in May, and then stayed approximately at the same level. At the beginning of this year, the number leaped up to well above 15,000 requests per month. At the end of June, passed the 20,000 request benchmark, traffic seemed to slow down again, similar to last year's tendency. However, the middle of the 2000 season kept the momentum up this time. By August, traffic reached a record high of over 26,000 requests.

The NSL headquarters will do its best to keep the web site up-to-date and interesting for our visitors. The most exciting part of the season is still to come. Most of the leagues still have to finish up their season. Team qualification for the NSL Playoffs is still open and is not finalized. The U.S. Nationals are only four weeks away. The NSL Championship 2000 will complete its 2000 season in November. The NSL web site will cover as much of these events as possible. Thank you for visiting. Hope you are enjoying the 2000 season. Join the leagues if you are not already in, and keep coming back to check the news.
