Cumulus Convention 2001 in Germany
August 24 - 26, 2001

The Cumulus Convention, a Canopy Formation boogie competition, will take place August 24-26 at Skydive Soest in Germany. Registration fee is DM 40,00. Jump tickets to 2500 m are DM 28,00 for Cumulus members. A fast Donier 28 will bring 15 jumpers to altitude.

Cumulus Convention 2001

The Cumulus Convention has a long standing tradition of 4-way scramble competitions and big sunset formations. But the fun element is more important than the competition part.

All people will be rated into four different skill levels. Highest level will be members of the national 4-way sequential and 8-way teams. At 8.30 a.m. teams will be scrambled. Then there will be (at least) one "skygod", one competitor, one intermediate and one novice (minimum 30 CF jumps) in each team. They will then make five simple Sequence jumps and one Rotation jump on Saturday and Sunday. Each team keeps track of its own scores (also judged from the ground), all in the spirit of the Cumulus Convention.

Saturday night after dinner, new members will be admitted to the Cumulus Convention Family which exists since 1983. Of course, there will be some simple tests (intellectual and agility). After that there's a great chance that partying will go on in a good German manner.

Camping is allowed at the dropzone and there are showers and rest rooms available. For driving directions and further information check out www.fsc-soest.de and www.janky.de/cumulus.htm or call 0049-[0]2927-189007. Have fun - pull high!

Kenya Beach Boogie 2001

October 27 to November 10, 2001 will be the 12th annual Kenya Skydiving Boogie. This year, the boogie will be staged at Diani Beach, south of Mombasa. Every load lands on the beach in front of the Safari Beach Hotel.

A Super Twin Otter takes 20 skydivers to 13,500+ (many of the lifts going higher). Packing and rigging services are available. Tandem jumps are available which include a beach landing, along with video and stills options.
