2001 US National Pond Swooping Championships August 25- 27, 2001Tempt the "Princess Of The Pond"! Join the Ranch Parachute Club in Gardiner, New York for their National Pond Swooping Championships. World class extreme canopy pilots will be there to challenge you! $10,000 in cash and prizes will be given away. All you need is a D license or equivalent, and good skills in canopy flying. And if you know the Ranch, you also know the fun that's going on after sunset!
Here's what the organizers at the Ranch thought up to make the Pond Swooping Nationals an exciting event. If you're not prepared to get wet...DON'T GO!
1. In Lane Swoop - Two Rounds
Objective:
Remain in contact with the water for the longest distance in the swoop lane and finishing past the shoreline. Competitors are going to have to swoop both directions.
Scoring:
Competitors are judged by the distance of their longest continuous unbroken contact with the water and style. Chowing will be scored a zero for that swoop. Style points will be awarded.
2. Carving In Lane Swoop - Two Rounds
Objective:
Remain in contact with the water for the longest distance in the carving swoop lane and finishing past the shoreline. Competitors are going to have to swoop both directions.
Scoring:
Competitors are judged by the distance of their longest continuous unbroken contact with the water and style. Chowing will be scored a zero for that swoop. Style points will be awarded.
3. Water Targets - Two Rounds
Objective: Contact a maximum of (5) targets and finish past shoreline.
Scoring: Ten (10) points each plus style. Must finish past shoreline.
4. Canopy Expression / Water Displacement with Water Arc - One Round
Objective:
Competitors are allowed to do whatever they want (except unsafe, hazardous action) as long as it involves their canopy and the pond. Competitors are allowed to team up and swoop together.
Scoring:
Competitors are judged by water displacement and style. Not required to finish past the shoreline. Competitors scored individually.
5. Raft Accuracy - One Round
Objective:
Swoop the pond and land in raft without cutting away.
Scoring:
Competitors are judged on swoop and style. 25 extra points given for raft accuracy. Competitors must touch water before landing in raft. Not touching the water prior to entering the raft they will be scored a zero (0) for raft accuracy and swoop. Style points will be awarded. Competitors must use one of the canopies they used for any prior round.
Competitors must register before the start of the Meet Director's pre-competition briefing. The Meet Director's briefing will be at least one hour before the start of the first round.
Registration Fee:
$100.00 before sunset Aug 24, 2001.
$125.00 after sunset Aug 24, 2001 and before close of registration on Aug 25, 2001.

Speed Skydiving Meets in Europe Speed Freaks Competition by Craig Poxon - www.poxon.org/Craig/Skydive/ The 3rd Annual Speed Freaks Competition will be taking place at Target Skysports in Hibaldstow, UK, over the August Bank Holiday between the 25th and the 27th. For the first time this will also be a leg in the World Cup competition! As well as the international competition we will be running a national one concurrently.

You must have at least 200 jumps. There will be no exception to this. Your rig must be high-speed friendly. You must have at least one audible altimeter (competition ProTracks will be provided for you), but two is recommended with a flashing one if possible.
To qualify for entry to the competition you must be able to achieve a maximum speed as indicated on the of at least 187 mph for men and 156 mph for women. If you have made these qualifications before you will not be required to make them again but we may need proof. If you enter the competition, you are agreeing to make as many jumps as the rest off the competitors make, up to a maximum of six.

1st RAPA Speed Meet Submitted by Buzz A Speed Skydiving meet will be held at the Rhine Army Parachute Association in Bad Lippspringe, Germany, over the weekend September 1-2.
The minimum entry standards are as follows:
200 Jumps
AAD must be fitted and operating
A working audible altimeter must be worn (the Pro Tracks issued do not count)
All containers must be "freefly friendly"
The competition will be run over 3 rounds of two speed runs. The fastest average speed from each round will count. The fastest average over all three rounds will be the winner. Should weather dictate that 3 rounds are not completed the competition will be judged on the number of rounds all competitors have completed. All Speed runs will be carried out from 13000 ft. There will be a maximum of 4 competitors per pass. All speeds will be measured over a vertical kilometer (full details will be given at the competition brief). All speed data will be collected using two issued Pro Tracks. These will be worn on the lateral web of your container. The mean average speed from both Pro Tracks will count.
