Tandem Certification Course in Texas

Skydive Houston will host a Tandem Certification Course on March 17-18 and other weekends as necessary to complete the course requirements. The course will be a Relative Workshop Vector Tandem course and the USPA Tandem I course.

Requirements: 500 square jumps minimum, 3 years in the sport, USPA D license, and an FAA Class 1, 2, or 3 Medical Certificate (to carry jumpers, you must have the medical certificate in hand!)

This course usually takes at least two weekends to complete all course jumps after which you will be able to do jumps which can help you earn back your course expenses. But that means that participants spend around $900 before they start earning money because they pay for at least 10 jumps of their own, 9 of which require a second slot, their gear rental (1/2 price gear rental for the course), and the course fee of $250. An FAA medical can be had for anywhere between $45- $75 depending upon the FAA medical examiner that you hook up with. For more information, feel free to e-mail Mike Turoff at miketjumps@aol.com.

They have three air conditioned and heated classrooms, scale aircraft mock-ups located inside the hanger, 3600 sq.ft. indoor packing, lots of creeper space inside the hanger, and video equipment.
