Speed Skydiving: Results of Lapalisse The speed skydiving competition hosted by Lapalisse got through with just three runs. A big wave of bad weather that swept over France during last week gave just time enough to run two last runs on Sunday evening. There was over 30 speeders who attended the meet, and approximately 15 others who announced they would not come because of the bad weather.
Ashley Crick from Australia won the Men's international event with a speed of 491.35 km/h over the kilometer on his last run followed by Mike Brooke from France with 487.62 km/h and Jean Christophe Magnient of France in third position with 425.52 km/h.
Wendy Smith from New Zealand won the womens international event with a speed of 399.90 km/h Wendy nearly became the first woman to break the wall of 400 km/h. She was followed by Christine Simon of France with a score of 373.77 and Agnes Roumaneix with a score of 361.45 km/h.
Sven Zimmermann from Germany was the most constant speeds, followed by Jude Haig.

U.S. Pond Swooping Nationals For the second year in a row, The Ranch in Gardiner, NY, is hosting the U.S. Nationals Pond Swooping Money Meet August 26-27. This is where pond swooping started years ago and continues to get bigger and better every year. The entrance fee is $50.00. There are six rounds and to gain sponsorship prizes and cash awards. Big beach party and dinner by Craig Rutledge.

First PA Championships of Sport Accuracy and Boogie On August 18, 19, 20, 2000, Skydive Pennsylvania and the City of Greenville, PA will host the first Pennsylvania Championships of Sport Accuracy and Boogie to commemorate Stephan Banic, inventor of an early parachute design. Greenville Airport is one hour and twenty minutes north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; approximately 45 minutes from Youngstown, Ohio, or 45 minutes south of Erie, Pennsylvania.
A cash purse of $2,700 has been raised and the pot is growing. The distribution of prize money will be $500 for first place and fifty dollars less for each place up to tenth. The competition will be directed by USPA National Director James Hayhurst. Rules for competition can be found at the USPA's web site . Aircraft will include a Caravan, a Twin Bonanza, and 182s as needed. A CASA is booked tentatively upon results of the 300-way attempts.
