Here we want to present some of the most interesting, provocative, colorful sites as our "Pearls on the Net". If you have created a unique, funny, informative page, or if you know of such a web page, please send us the URL so we can feature it here! |
The BASE Point
The BASE Point's web site has been completely redesigned this spring! It has a neat design and a great navigation which makes it easy to find your way around the valuable information on BASE jumping. This site contains information and resources for experienced BASE jumpers or teams that have the skills to evaluate a BASE Object, wind, and other factors by themselves. |

Even if you are not qualified to jump on your own, you are welcome to use this site and the links it provides to get in contact with an experienced jumper who can teach you everything you need to know. Also feel free to look around if you're just interested in learning a little about the sport or read the messages on different topics in the forum.
A highlight is the information on BASE jumping from the Kjerag granite massif in Lysebotn, Norway. So, if you ever plan to visit Kjerag, this site is a must. Overall it's a great relaunch of the BASE Point. |
The Slammer If you're looking for base of a different kind, you'll find it at The Slammer - the Internet's humorous skydiving web site! At this online site, which apparently draws its inspiration from the likes of publications like "National Enquirer", "base" skydiving humor abounds. The Content found herein is intended to amuse and tickle the funny bone with its irreverent tone and style. Although, at times, the Slammer verges on being unfunny and politically incorrect by throwing terms around like "faggot" (Hello! Does Dr. Laura ring a bell?), the humor presented here for the most part, is refreshing and original. One fact, however, holds true: Only skydivers will 'get' most of this humor! But, heck, if you're reading skyXtreme, odds will have it that you're probably a skydiver! |

If you're visiting The Slammer, and you're a skydiver with a vexing problem, you can write to "Dear John" or "Ask Janine" for a not-so-serious reply. And if you're in a "need to know" quandary about "Who's Doing Who?" you can find that information here. (Thank goodness we finally found somewhere that compiles this stuff!) With its use of cool graphical design, with bright, colorful graphics and photographs, The Slammer presents some pleasing 'eye candy'. It's Enquirer-esque interface is a neat starting point to explore the silliness which abounds here! |

Whether you are a new jumper or a seasoned veteran, this FAQ page on Aerodyne Research's web site contains much valuable information about parachutes. You can chose between such topics as "What are the differences between 7-cell and 9-cell designs?" and "How do I select the proper size parachute?" or "What are the differences between rectangular and elliptical parachute designs?"
The list is dynamic and updated often. If you have a question that you would like to see added to their FAQ list you can send your suggestion to them in an e-mail. And if your question is added, they will send you a free T-shirt! |
