One of Viking Express Grand Caravans will be based in South Padre Island at the Cameron County Airport after July 20 indefinitely. The aircraft will be available for jumping on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and bring 18 jumpers to 13,500 feet over scenic South Padre or other locations as needed. The skydive world's longest continuously running competition, the US National Collegiate Parachuting Championships, has ben awarded this year to Skydive Lake Wales in Florida. Bill Wenger will be meet director. He plans to include some novel events and activities and indicates that freeflying will be among them. The dates are December 28 - January 1.
